Home Remedies for Earache


Earache is a common problem that occurs due to infection in the ear area. Normally the middle of the ear is filled with air but during a cold, fluid or mucus gets accumulated in the middle ear and may get infected by bacteria and causes ear pain.

1. Mild itching or pain in ear
2. Discharge from the ear
3. Hearing loss

Following are the major earache causes:

1. Due to ear infection
2. Ear disease
3. Nose, mouth, or throat infection
4. Due to insect in the ear
5. Fungus growth in the ear
6. Injury to jaw bones

Natural Home Remedies for Earache

Following are some of the effective home remedies for earache:



1. Take Vitamin C rich diet. It will help to cure earache by boosting your immune system.
2. Prepare a poultice of onions to cure earache within 10 minutes.
3. Keep your ears free of moisture after swimming or bathing to avoid ear infection.
4. Add 3 drops of grape seed extract to some garlic oil and put few drops of it to the infected ear. It is very effective home remedy for earache
5. Use a nasal spray if nose is congested this will also help to reduce the earache.


Earache Treatment and Advice

1. Avoid excessive use of antibiotics
2. Don’t swim in polluted or dirty water
3. Wear earplugs while swimming
4. Sleep with pillows to reduce pressure in the middle ear
5. Take zinc in your diet to reduce ear infection
6. Avoid dairy products like milk, butter and cheese
7. Properly clean your ear to remove dirt or any object that may cause ear problems

Herbal Remedies for Earache

1. Put 2-3 drops of garlic oil in affected ear
2. Prepare a mixture by adding tree tea oil with neem oil (diluted in sesame oil). Put few drops of it to the ear passage, only if there is no perforation or discharge.
